What is power alleys?

Power alleys are sections of a baseball field that span from the outfield fences to the gap between the two outfielders. These areas are generally considered to be the most favorable for hitters, as balls hit into power alleys have the highest likelihood of resulting in extra-base hits, such as doubles and triples, or even home runs. The dimensions of power alleys vary depending on the specific ballpark, but in general, they tend to be between 375 and 400 feet from home plate. Defensively, outfielders typically place a great deal of emphasis on positioning themselves correctly in the power alleys in order to maximize their ability to make plays on balls hit into these areas.
